Location

This beautiful chateau, a listed historic monument with origins dating back to the 14th Century has been in the same family for more than six hundred years. It occupies one of the most ancient and stunning sites in the Dordogne on a secluded hillside close to Urval.

The chateau can be rented for weddings and parties. There is a reception room seating 150 people and catering can be organised and there is a private chapel. The chateau can also be rented with M22 which is also owned by them sleeping ten only a ten minute walk away

NOTE TO THE RENTAL RATES

- All prices are per week per property from Saturday to Saturday Owners may be willing to accept mid week rentals or part week rentals in the low and mid season .Please email us your requests. We’ll be happy to answer your queries. Please book well in advance for peak season bookings as the best weeks tend to go quickly.

- Prices are quoted in Euros. If you choose to pay in £ sterling or US dollars please pay the equivalent rate quoted on the site which is approximate only. We will inform you when you pay what the exact equivalent amount is in Euros that you have paid, since it depends on the exchange rate on the day.

- Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheques in sterling or in Euros or by credit card. Prices are net of bank charges, i.e. tenants are expected to pay all bank charges. Payment by credit card through our secure Internet server incurs bank charges of 2% of the rental.

- A 33% deposit is required with the booking. The final balance is due three months before arrival ( a shorter period may be arranged for last minute bookings). A security deposit as defined for each house is required to be paid with the balance . This coverc the cost of any damage or breakages and the cost of telephone and other services. This deposit will be returned after the rental, minus any charges for breakages, telephone, etc.

- Rental rates include: all linen, bathroom , kitchen and pool towels, if renting more than one week cleaning on the Saturday of three hours with change of linen, electricity, gas, firewood and water and pool heating if available

- Rental rates exclude : additional cleaning, cooking, babysitting, heating in winter months charged at cost, phone calls when available and bedding for cots

- Renters should arrive between 17.00 and 19.00 as cleaners need the house to be free for cleaning on changeover day until this time. Please try not to arrive at the house until that time. Departure date : for the same reason, please vacate the house (or all except one room) by 10.am

- Each house has a maximum number of people. In no circumstances may more than the maximum number of persons listed on the property particulars be exceeded without prior approval

- Cancellation charges apply. Should cancellation occur more than three months before the commencement date, then the deposit is not reimbursable, within three months cancellation charges are 100% of the holiday. You are strongly advised to take out appropriate insurance to cover you for medical and personal injury expenses but also in the event of delays in your travel arrangements and against any cancellation charges payable if you have to cancel or curtail your trip. Finally and most importantly you are expected to have third party cover insurance and insurance to cover for any breakages/losses and damage during your stay

Accommodation

The accommodation, which is entirely self-contained is situated in the west wing of the chateau across the courtyard from the family, with two separate entrances through the courtyard and the rear terrace. The accommodation which is centrally heated has been extensively renovated recently to a high standard respecting the original features but also incorporating all modern amenities and is very comfortably furnished with antiques.

The property which sleeps a maximum of nine people,is in two separate areas,adjoining but not connected, the Bakery and the Belfry, situated on either side of the chapel

The Bakery which sleeps a maximum of six comprising:
- An entrance hall with cloakroom and WC
- An elegant living room with open fireplace, satellite French TV, DVD and stereo.
- A spacious well equipped kitchen / dining area seating 9 -10 people with open fireplace located in the old bakery of the chateau with direct access to an outside dining terrace
- There is a separate utility room with washing machine and separate dryer
- Upstairs 3 double bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms (with WC), two of which with free-standing baths and separate shower and one with a bath with an integral shower. The double bedrooms consist of one with a four poster bed (2.1X1.6m) and two each with two beds (2X0.9m), which can be put together as double beds.

The 14th century Belfry which sleeps a maximum of three comprises:
- An entrance hall with WC and cloakroom
- A well appointed kitchen and a separate WC
- Direct entrance to the family chapel
- Upstairs a double bedroom with double bed (2X1.5m) and a single bedroom (0.9m) and a small bathroom with a small bath and shower.

Bedlinen and towels are supplied. Please bring your own towels for outside use. Maid service is supplied 2 hours daily for 5 days.Extra hours for personal laundry service, babysitting and a cook can be provided if it is prebooked. There is also a telephone and fax.

Gardens

The chateau which has a private estate of some 600 hectares dominates a large park comprising rolling meadows and woodland. The 1,3 hectares of gardens directly surrounding the chateau are lawned with mature flowerbeds and manicured hedges.Lemon trees line the courtyard and the sandy coloured walls so typical of the architecture of this area are covered with climbing roses, accentuating the chateau's romantic atmosphere. The gardens and park are also listed as a historical monument and as a "jardin remarquable" by the Ministry of Culture.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the park and its many walks through the estate and woodlands with it's impressive avenue of lime trees, topiaries and many different kinds of rose bushes.

There is a large private swimming pool (15m X 6m) with full width steps which gently merges into nature with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.quarters. There is garden furniture and a barbeque on a shaded dining terrace , poolside sun loungers and a hammock and a large boules area.

Local Activities

The chateau is ideally located to enjoy all the usual Dordogne sites. In the local village of Urval ( a 10 mins walk) there is a small cafe bar. Canoeing on the river Dordogne, tennis and golf in the nearby village of Siorac , riding are all close by (5-10 mins distant in the car)
