Location
Built in the reign of Louis XIV, perched halfway up a limestone hill above the Dropt river, this Perigordian chateau is situated in a haven of privacy and tranquility, brimming with the charm and the nobility of its gracious 400 years of existence.It has been restored to a very high standard yet still retains its original ambience
Situated between the small market towns of Eymet and Issigeac, it is only 19 km (12 miles) from Bergerac airport,and 70 km (45) miles from Libourne, where one can get the fast TGV train to Paris and London.

NOTE TO THE RENTAL RATES
- All prices are per week per property from Saturday to Saturday Owners may be willing to accept mid week rentals or part week rentals in the low and mid season .Please email us your requests. We’ll be happy to answer your queries. Please book well in advance for peak season bookings as the best weeks tend to go quickly.
- Prices are quoted in Euros. If you choose to pay in £ sterling or US dollars please pay the equivalent rate quoted on the site which is approximate only. We will inform you when you pay what the exact equivalent amount is in Euros that you have paid, since it depends on the exchange rate on the day.
- Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheques in sterling or in Euros or by credit card. Prices are net of bank charges, i.e. tenants are expected to pay all bank charges. Payment by credit card through our secure Internet server incurs bank charges of 2% of the rental.
- A 33% deposit is required with the booking. The final balance is due three months before arrival ( a shorter period may be arranged for last minute bookings). A security deposit as defined for each house is required to be paid with the balance . This covers the cost of any damage or breakages and the cost of telephone and other services. This deposit will be returned after the rental, minus any charges for breakages, telephone, etc.
- Rental rates include: all linen, bathroom and kitchen towels, if renting more than one week cleaning on the Saturday of three hours with change of linen, electricity, gas, firewood and water and pool heating if available
- Rental rates exclude : additional cleaning, cooking, babysitting, heating in winter months charged at cost, phone calls when available, bedding for cots and pool towels
- Renters should arrive between 17.00 and 19.00 as cleaners need the house to be free for cleaning on changeover day until this time. Please try not to arrive at the house until that time. Departure date : for the same reason, please vacate the house (or all except one room) by 10.am
- Each house has a maximum number of people. In no circumstances may more than the maximum number of persons listed on the property particulars be exceeded without prior approval
- Cancellation charges apply. Should cancellation occur more than three months before the commencement date, then the deposit is not reimbursable, within three months cancellation charges are 100% of the holiday. You are strongly advised to take out appropriate insurance to cover you for medical and personal injury expenses but also in the event of delays in your travel arrangements and against any cancellation charges payable if you have to cancel or curtail your trip. Finally and most importantly you are expected to have third party cover insurance and insurance to cover for any breakages/losses and damage during your stay
Accommodation
Very high standards prevail in the main house which sleeps a maximum of ten people plus four in the pigeonnier
Main house
- Living rooms. There are three grand salons and one family room The salon Carrele to the right of he entrance hall is a superb location for reading .It has a large table from which buffets can be placed when dining on the east terrace of the house. Two grand salons both of which open out onto the east terrace are accessed through the salon Carrele. The terrace is an ideal place to relax and enjoy views over the woods and rolling hills. The salons are comfortably furnished wit a mixture of new and antique furniture including a grand piano. Walking through the entry hall to the north side of the house you will find the family room complete with satellite Tv, DVD player, stereo, internet access, numerous board games and toys for children
There is an attractive, fully equipped farmhouse kitchen with antique floor tiles and fitted hand made oak panelled units (with gas range,electric oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster,etc). There is a large table seating 12.The laundry room in the back of the kitchen has a sink,washing and drying machines, ironing boards and a clothes line.
To the left of the entrance hall is the former panelled dining room with seating for fourteeen and a magnificent fireplace. There is a separate WC and shower on the ground floor.
On the first floor there are 5 large double bedrooms very attractively restored each with ensuite bathrooms and with lovely views over different aspects of the park. Each has comfy chairs and writing tables and on the first floor landing there is a cosy space for reading, writing or relaxing furnished with a sofa and a desk
A cook and/or a housekeeper are available upon request

Gardens
Enjoy privacy in a well maintained property set in 13 hectares (32 acres) of gardens, woodlands and tended grounds.
There are three outside dining areas
- one in front of the kitchen which benefits from the sun the entire day
- the second on the east terrac shaded by several mature limetrees ideal for afternoon tea and buffet suppers
- the third next to the pool
There is a large heated, filtered swimming pool (12 x6m) with wide entrance steps, encircled by landscaped terraces and mature plantings.Pool facilities include sun loungers , occasional tables and umbrellas. A new hard surfaced tennis court is located in a secluded area behind the pool and le pigeonnier . Table tennis, croquet and badminton sets are provided.
The pool and tennis court can be shared with renters in the pigeonnier (albeit a maximum of four people) or they can be private if the pigeonnier is rented with the manorhouse or in discussions with the agent
There is ample off road parking.

Local Activities
There is plenty to do in the area. Issigeac and its lively Sunday market is only a few kms distant. Bergerac and its vineyards are within 20 kms and all the delights of the Dordogne and Vezere river valleys are within a hour's drive
