You can take the Eurotunnel train from Ashford (near Dover) to Calais and then drive down some 700 miles either in a day or taking a more leisurely pace over a few days.
The time taken to drive from the UK depends very much on which ferry crossing one takes (Caen is the nearest) and how leisurely one's approach is to touring through France. It is possible to drive down in a day - some 300 to 450 miles.
