Location

Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of forests and mountains, and the beautiful valley of the Dordogne, this chateau lies within a spectacular setting situated 500 feet above sea level on one of the beautiful plateaux of the Massif Central, Plateau de Mille Vaches (plateau of a thousand cows).

This is an ancient chateau built in the 17th century in the heart of France , full of atmosphere, cosy corners, huge fireplaces, masses of antiques, sleigh beds, a 'Rapunzel' tower, even a chapel with a confessional

The present chateau, built in 1670, has always been the property of the Barons of this region until it was purchased by the current owners in 2015. They were a typical family of rural nobility and the Baroness resided at the chateau until the late 1980's when it was inherited by her nephew.

The chateau is full of original features, stone and wood floors, open beams, massive fireplaces, a tower, comfortable furnishings and French antiques. It is fully centrally heated and very cosy in winter while in summer, due to its ancient thick stone walls, it remains cool even on the hottest days.

The chateau is ideal for families and safe for children with a large (fenced) swimming pool, a massive garden with fields, a stream, small wood and activities for young and old. With plenty of accommodation for up to 16 and room for an extra 6 children, a chateau holiday for a large group or shared amongst a number of families or couples suddenly becomes very affordable!
