This converted 17th century ferry master's house which has served as a toll post for the ferry crossing the Dordogne until the Siorac bridge was built is situated in beautiful grounds just outside Siorac-en-Perigord right in the middle of the tourist area, located on the Dordogne river, in an elevated position with treetop views.
Dating originally from 1648 the property has been extended over the centuries and has just recently been lovingly restored by its current American owners to make a very comfortable home with very high quality features and furnishings. |

The accommodation which is very beautifully furnished with antiques is spacious providing accommodation for up to 8 people, comprising:
On the ground floor
- a spacious sitting / dining room with a large original 17th century fireplace, modern sofas and antique furniture with fabulous river views from its large windows
- A second smaller family living room/den with double sofabed and entertainment centre (satellite TV, video and DVD)
- A double bedroom with double bed and ensuite shower room with shower, washbasin and WC
- A separate WC and washbasin off the living room
- A modern kitchen equipped with top of the line appliances( American fridge/freezer with ice/cold water distributor, professional cook's gas hob, two electric ovens, dishwasher), large work area and 2 walk in closets. The small breakfast area overlooking the river is full of light,with a great view to the north and east of the property
Connected to the corridor by a door, the basement has a washing machine and separate dryer in the downstairs utility room.
Upstairs there is
- The master double bedroom which is separated from the rest of the other bedrooms has a king-size double bed with a great view over the Dordogne and ensuite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, double basins and state of the art separate shower with multiple jets.
- A large double bedroom with double bed with two windows facing north to the Dordogne
- A second double bedroom with a single bed with a trundle bed which can be made into two twin beds.
- These two bedrooms share a shower room with basin and a separate WC and basin
- a mezzanine library/reading room/den with lots of books, a TV and a comfortable sofa facing south

The property has two hectares of beautiful gardens (5 acres) with a walnut grove and heavenly views over the river and 220 m of private river frontage.A nice little beach allows for swimming, canoeing and fishing in the Dordogne and of course viewing the lovely sunsets. You can get down to this beach by walking down alongside a little brook
The other distinctive feature of this property is the private "infinity" heated pool, which has been custom built to overlook the river.The irregular shaped pool ( 14 x 9m) is in a beautiful setting about 25-30 metres from the house with a terrace on one side . It is surrounded by an infra red alarm.
There is room for several cars to be parked. The 19th century barn is locked as it is used for storage of gardening tools and materials .

| NOTE TO THE RENTAL RATES |
- All prices are per week per property from Saturday to Saturday Owners may be willing to accept mid week rentals or part week rentals in the low and mid season .Please email us your requests. We’ll be happy to answer your queries. Please book well in advance for peak season bookings as the best weeks tend to go quickly.
- Prices are quoted in Euros. If you choose to pay in £ sterling or US dollars please pay the equivalent rate quoted on the site which is approximate only. We will inform you when you pay what the exact equivalent amount is in Euros that you have paid, since it depends on the exchange rate on the day.
- Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheques in sterling or in Euros or by credit card. Prices are net of bank charges, i.e. tenants are expected to pay all bank charges. Payment by credit card through our secure Internet server incurs bank charges of 2% of the rental.
- A 33% deposit is required with the booking. The final balance is due three months before arrival ( a shorter period may be arranged for last minute bookings). A security deposit as defined for each house is required to be paid with the balance . This covers the cost of any damage or breakages and the cost of telephone and other services. This deposit will be returned after the rental, minus any charges for breakages, telephone, etc.
- Rental rates include: all linen, bathroom and kitchen towels, if renting more than one week cleaning on the Saturday of three hours with change of linen, electricity, gas, firewood and water and pool heating if available
- Rental rates exclude : additional cleaning, cooking, babysitting, heating in winter months charged at cost, phone calls when available, bedding for cots and pool towels
- Renters should arrive between 17.00 and 19.00 as cleaners need the house to be free for cleaning on changeover day until this time. Please try not to arrive at the house until that time. Departure date : for the same reason, please vacate the house (or all except one room) by 10.am
- Each house has a maximum number of people. In no circumstances may more than the maximum number of persons listed on the property particulars be exceeded without prior approval
- Cancellation charges apply. Should cancellation occur more than three months before the commencement date, then the deposit is not reimbursable, within three months cancellation charges are 100% of the holiday. You are strongly advised to take out appropriate insurance to cover you for medical and personal injury expenses but also in the event of delays in your travel arrangements and against any cancellation charges payable if you have to cancel or curtail your trip. Finally and most importantly you are expected to have third party cover insurance and insurance to cover for any breakages/losses and damage during your stay |
