This exceptional 19th century chateau, has a unique location, perched on the edge of a rocky hill overlooking the Dordogne river, a truly magnificent site , right in the heart of the Dordogne region, very close to all the well known tourist sites.

The accommodation which is furnished with antiques sleeps a maximum of 16 people and comprises:

- A large entrance hall which leads to the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and the main terrace
- A very large living room (100m2) with a magnificent stone fireplace offers exceptional views over the Dordogne valley.
- A small round intimate living room just off the main living room is cosier with even better views over the valley and the river.
- A large dining room with another wonderful stone fireplace and an extendable table which can accommodate up to 16 people. Worthy of particular note is the chimney and the gallery of ancestor paintings.

- A very large fully fitted kitchen with fridge, freezer, washing machine, dryer and microwave and breakfast table. There is a facility to eat in this very large kitchen

The very large terrace (100m2) which overlooks the Dordogne river, the valley and the swimming pool provides the most wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.

A large stone stairway leads to the first floor and downstairs to the swimming pool.

Upstairs on the first floor there are six bedrooms and five bathrooms:
- A 45m² library room with a 1.80m double bed and a large fireplace. En-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. View over the courtyard and the Dordogne

- A 44m² bedroom with a 1.60m double bed. En-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. View of the Dordogne

- A 30m² bedroom with two single beds 0.90x2.00m which can be twinned. Bathroom with bathtub. View over the courtyard.

- A 22m² bedroom room with two bunk beds, for a total of four 0.90m beds. En-suite bathroom with 2 sinks, shower and toilet. View over the Dordogne
- A 30m² bedroom with a 1.80m double bed. En-suite bathroom with bath and toilet. View of the Dordogne
- A small bedroom with a single bed 0.90m + 1 crib. View of the Dordogne

The last two bedrooms are ideal for the same family, since a passage through one room is necessary to reach the last one

The corridor of the first floor opens onto a large stone staircase serving the second floor.

On the second floor there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms
- A double bedroom with ensuite shower room and separate WC
- A single bedroom with a washbasin
- A twin bedroom with ensuite shower room and WC

Towels including swimming towels are provided and beds are made up ahead of time

Heating is charged as an extra in the winter and autumn months.No pets are allowed unless discussed with the agent and owner beforehand. Occupancy is limited to sixteen people.

A concierge lives on site in a separate apartment and can provide evening meals and babysitting services as well extra cleaning and shopping service if required .This needs to be arranged in advance and paid direct

There is an alarmed swimming pool (12X6m) with Roman steps overlooking the Dordogne river as well as over a charming beach right on the Dordogne river within easy walking distance, where you can swim in refreshing river water.There are two hectares of grounds to relax in including woods, a park and gardens of 1000 sqm.



The chateau has been in the same family for five generations. This is a truly fabulous place to spend a holiday, The location is superb, literally within walking distance from the picturesque riverside village of La Roquegageac with its local small shops , restaurants , canoeing, and fishing, all in walking distance. The chateau is quite heavenly with wonderful views up and down stream from most of the rooms. A truly perfect vacation venue.

- All prices are per week per property from Saturday to Saturday Owners may be willing to accept mid week rentals or part week rentals in the low and mid season .Please email us your requests. We’ll be happy to answer your queries. Please book well in advance for peak season bookings as the best weeks tend to go quickly.

- Prices are quoted in Euros. If you choose to pay in £ sterling or US dollars please pay the equivalent rate quoted on the site which is approximate only. We will inform you when you pay what the exact equivalent amount is in Euros that you have paid, since it depends on the exchange rate on the day.

- Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheques in sterling or in Euros or by credit card. Prices are net of bank charges, i.e. tenants are expected to pay all bank charges. Payment by credit card through our secure Internet server incurs limited charges of euros 11 per transaction and a favourable exchange rate 

- A 33% deposit is required with the booking. The final balance is due two months before arrival ( a shorter period may be arranged for last minute bookings). A security deposit as defined for each house is required to be paid with the balance . This covers the cost of any damage or breakages and the cost of other services. This deposit will be returned after the rental, minus any charges for breakages etc.

- Rental rates include: all linen, bathroom, pool and kitchen towels, if renting more than one week cleaning on the Saturday of three hours with change of linen, electricity, gas, firewood and water and pool heating if available

- Rental rates exclude : additional cleaning, cooking, babysitting, heating in winter months charged at cost, phone calls when available, bedding for cots and pool towels

- Renters should arrive between 17.00 and 19.00 as cleaners need the house to be free for cleaning on changeover day until this time. Please try not to arrive at the house until that time. Departure date : for the same reason, please vacate the house (or all except one room) by

- Each house has a maximum number of people. In no circumstances may more than the maximum number of persons listed on the property particulars be exceeded without prior approval

- Cancellation charges apply. Should cancellation occur more than two months before the commencement date, then the deposit is not reimbursable, within two months cancellation charges are 100% of the holiday. You are strongly advised to take out appropriate insurance to cover you for medical and personal injury expenses but also in the event of delays in your travel arrangements and against any cancellation charges payable if you have to cancel or curtail your trip.
